Usher CorpsThe UMS Volunteer Usher Corps consists of a dedicated group of people who enjoy the performing arts. Ushers contribute to enhancing the audience members experience through their positive attitude and knowledge of performances. Typical tasks include greeting patrons, distributing programs, directing patrons to seats, addressing disturbances and distractions, and assisting patrons with special needs. Ushers are expected to report up to an hour and a half prior to the performance start time. All ushers must meet a minimum yearly requirement of volunteer for 5 performances within a performance season. Those who are more committed can join one of our many usher crews geared towards volunteering specific performance venues.POST TeamIf you love attending performances and have a few hours to help UMS in the Ann Arbor, Saline, or Ypsilanti area, this program is perfect for you. Volunteers earn two tickets in exchange for posting promotional posters in local businesses and neighborhoods.AmbassadorsIf you are passionate about the arts and would like to connect deeply with UMS, Ambassadors may be a great match for you. More than 45 members of the UMS Ambassadors work to increase awareness of and participation in UMS programs through assisting UMS staff with projects and special events, ushering at UMS school-day performances, hosting unique community events, helping to create partnerships with various U-M and community groups, and providing support to UMS in countless other ways. UMS Ambassadors are the champions of UMS’s community engagement mission.Student CommitteeThe UMS Student Committee is an official student organization at the University of Michigan! Students focus on connecting the campus community to the performing arts through UMS performances and experiences. Each season, the Student Committee creates and executes marketing plans, plans events, and interacts with staff for a select number of UMS performances. Students have found that the committee is a really satisfying, social way to stay connected to the arts during school. To top it off, you can earn tickets to UMS performances! |
