R.E.A.D.S. MentorResources for the Earth and Agriculture Discovered and Shared (READS) mentors work one-on-one with elementary students in this after-school program. This unique program combines outdoor experiences with reading and writing exercises and improves students’ proficiency test scores. Call for schedule. Training provided.Summer Earth Adventures AssistantAssist naturalists as you work with children ages 3 to 13 in nature-based classes. Learn along with the children as you participate in outdoor and inside activities. If you enjoy the outdoors, this is a perfect volunteer opportunity for the young-at-heart, ages 14 and older!Mail CrewDo you enjoy working with others and seeing the results of your work? The Mail Crew organizes the many bulk mailings Aullwood sends to members and the community. Last year, this group handled more than 40,000 pieces of mail!Volunteer NaturalistShare your love of nature and farming with children. Volunteer Naturalists lead school field trips and weekend nature programs focusing on habitats, wildlife, and a variety of other themes. Training provided.FeederWatchContribute to scientific research while enjoying coffee, sweets, and the company of like-minded individuals. And learn bird identification! Call for schedule.Maintenance Team MembersShare your project, construction and outdoor maintenance skills! With more than 30 structures, 6 miles of trails and hundreds acres of land to maintain, our maintenance team always needs assistance.Long-Term Monitoring of Plants or WildlifeAre you interested in learning about butterflies and bluebirds? Help Aullwood’s naturalists collect information on species and contribute to scientific research. Call for schedule.Administrative SupportAssist the administrative staff with various projects including filing, computer input, maintaining archives, and preparing media releases.Guest ServicesThese volunteers ensure that visitors’ experiences at Aullwood are positive. Use your enthusiasm for the environment to greet and assist guests, answer the phone, and conduct sales in the Nature Store or Farm. Training provided.Habitat HealersAssist with the control and eradication of non-native invasive species and the introduction of native plants in their places. Training provided. |

About us | Decades ago, Marie Aull gave her land to the Miami Valley, creating National Audubon Society’s first nature center in the Midwest. Today as visitors explore the Marie S. Aull Education Center, walk the trails and experience Aullwood’s sustainable farm, they discover why Aull’s gift is a paragon among nature centers. More than 110,000 people of all ages engage in exciting on-site or outreach programs every year. By nourshing familiarity with nature and sustainable agriculture, Aullwood stimulates many visitors to environmental activism. |
