Needs |
Good-to-Go Backpacks (August-Early May)Each week, volunteers build packs full of food. These packs are then given to schools and agencies, who in turn, give them to children they see have a hunger need. The children receive them on Friday to sustain them through the weekend.Foodbank Farming Friends (July-October mainly)We are teaming up with a local organic farm who wants to give back to the community. This farm in Washington Township is donating vegetables which will be gleaned by volunteers like you! We are looking for volunteers who would be able to pick fruits and vegetables at the farm on 24 to 48 hours’ notice.Donation RepackWhen we receive food drives, volunteers sort through the boxes and canned goods. Food drives happen all year round, but two times a year (May and end of the year) we receive large donations.Mobile Farmer’s MarketsThe Foodbank goes out to various host sites (mainly in Greene County, three pantries are hosted in Montgomery County, two additional in Preble County) and gives out produce to those in need. Volunteers help fill out paperwork and help pass out food.Produce Sort (July-November)When produce is received from grocery stores, it comes in all conditions. Volunteers sort through the produce, separating fruits from vegetables and separating good from bad. There is some lifting of boxes in doing this task. |
