Youth

Description Since its beginnings in 1865, The Salvation Army has always focused part of its work on helping children reach their full potential. Volunteer opportunities exist in the following areas: Teaching Assistants: tutor, teach curriculum and mentor children ages 2-7. After School Programs: help children build self-esteem, develop appropriate social behaviors and learn academic skills. Also, plan creative activities, play and work on arts and crafts projects. Teen Mentors: work with and challenge youth on issues that affect their decisions and lives. Plan social activities, coach sports, play games and music and help with academic work.
