The Development Office at WGBH is open year-round, and we always appreciate assistance with a variety of administrative tasks. These include helping with mailing projects, data entry, writing and editing scripts for the annual WGBH Auction, photocopying, making phone calls, organizing, and filing.

On the Tuesday before every Thanksgiving, Urban Edge staff and volunteers gather to pass out between 300 and 600 turkeys and chickens and Thanksgiving fixings. Volunteers take donations (foodstuffs), sign in recipients, assist in distribution, set up and clean up, deliver food to seniors.
Particularly in the warm-weather months, we schedule community-building events that might be anything from a cookout to a neighborhood walk. Volunteers are welcome to join us, pitch in, and get to know your community.
The first quarter of every year, The VITA Center provides tax assistance and online filing of Federal and State returns for individuals and families. Volunteers who have completed IRS training at Urban Edge provide individualized, one-on-one assistance on a walk-in basis. Income Support Screeners make direct connections with USES coaching and Training for Office Job participants and help empower them to make positive changes in their lives. They collaborate with USES coaches to assess present strengths and assets, connect families with relevant resources, and help them secure government benefits.
Children need supplies for school: notebooks, pencils, backpacks and book bags, even winter coats. Urban Edge takes donations to purchase these supplies, or collects the supplies from generous local businesses. Volunteers secure donations, direct and sign in recipients, gather and distribute supplies, set up and clean up.
Engage with children ages 0 – 5 and assist with supervision and planning of activities. Some experience working with children ages 0-5 preferred; ability to lead activities preferred.
This resource fair connects students with summer camps, job opportunities, free lunches and other events that can help make summer a happy, productive time. Volunteers secure donations, direct and sign in recipients, set up, and clean up.
