Each year on Father’s Day, Talbert House hosts this FREE event for dads and families to enjoy a day of games, entertainment, arts and crafts, food and beverages, live music, sports activities, and more.
Help raise awareness about the CSO & upcoming performances by distributing posters to business and organizations around the city and tabling at local events.
Accompany neighbors around our choice food pantry, letting them know how many of each item they can take, bagging groceries, and helping them out to their vehicles. On slower days, volunteers might also sort donations and stock the pantry shelves. Our food pantry is open Mondays-Fridays from 8am-4pm & Saturdays from 8am-12pm.
To attend dog orientation, you must be at least 18 years old.
To attend cat orientation, you must be at least 16 years old (and come with a parent or guardian if under 18).
Help keep our shelter in good working order. You might fold towels, re-label clothing or sort food items.
Assist our staff in the morning when our guests are departing.
Assist our staff with welcoming our guests into shelter and tasks to keep our place running smoothly. Laundry, cleaning and lots of listening.
Volunteers serve on the Planning Committee of our special events or volunteer for a specific role on the day of the event.
One of the Nature Center’s newest projects, the goal of this initiative is to develop a resource for acquiring native plants, shrubs, and trees for habitat restoration projects on CNC lands. Volunteers will work with staff in harvesting and processing seed from our forest and fields. Seed collection work occurs primarily from September through November.…
