Volunteer to help children and youth K-12 with homework, reading, and fun learning activities. Sessions are held from 4-7pm, Monday-Thursday, throughout the academic year (August – May). Volunteers work one-on-one or in small groups and may choose between subjects and grade levels. Science, math, and writing tutors are especially needed.
Any adult or teenager (ages 12 and up) may apply to be a volunteer with the ACM. All interested individuals must attend a mandatory 40-hour domestic violence counselor training program mandated by California Evidence Code §1037.1. Trainings are held in the spring and fall. Volunteer opportunities include working in the following areas: 24-Hour Hotline, empowerment playgroups, support groups, court/visitation accompaniment, interpretation/translation; horticultural therapy, donation sorting, transportation and clerical work.
