We have several special volunteers with four legs instead of two! The healing power of a visit from a furry friend is demonstrated through our pet therapy program, which began in 1997. Our many registered and certified pet therapy dogs visit patients at various Renown locations and you could become a part of the team.
Many of our guests rarely receive a home-cooked meal, and are very appreciative when a dinner is provided . You can schedule your family or group to provide a weekday meal. (We ask that you plan to feed 20 people)

The Guest House is managed by a volunteer board of directors and also has many committees populated by volunteers, e.g. finance, marketing, governance and special events. Serving on a committee is a great way to find out more about the organization and possibly serving on the board in the future.
The Guest House is a typical home needing to be cared for on an ongoing basis. There are beds to be made, laundry to be done and cabinets to be straightened.
Pet Network hosts several events throughout the year at our shelter and at various offsite locations. Events range from adoption and community events to fundraising events. Our Language Bank does cost money for our interpreters, but we need volunteers to interpret for those who cannot afford to pay.
Volunteer drivers are sometimes needed to take the international visitors around Reno and Tahoe for the day. The individuals will need to be picked up from their hotel and escorted around the town. We will need a copy of a valid driver’s license.
You may host one of our International Visitor Groups for dinner, host an Algerian Youth Leadership student for two weeks, or become a volunteer at one of our Fulbright events.
