Volunteers engage in the following roles: Evaluators, Trainers, Foster Homes, Foster Home Support, Telephone Interviews, Home Visits, Reference Checks, Foster Home Set Up, Transport Foster Supply Maintenance, Dog Walkers, Adopter Support, Medical Tracking, and Micro Chip Tracking.

From April through October, we depend upon thousands of helping hands working outside with us morning and afternoon. When you arrive, you walk out through the fields to our farm pavilion. For a span of about six weeks in February and March, we collect buckets of sap from sugar maple trees in Concord and boil it into syrup, donated at Thanksgiving to families seeking hunger relief. Space is limited and the schedule is variable.

Volunteers help keep Gather moving forward. We often need volunteers for the following: counting, sorting and stocking items for the pantry; Meals 4 Kids distributions and events; Meals 4 Seniors deliveries; assisting in on and off site food drives; outreach and fundraising event participation; holiday basket assembly and distribution.

Volunteers help in many areas including entering data, answering phone and the preparation of mailing; and shift coverage for occasional pantry hours.

Generation Citizen’s Student Leadership Board (SLB) is a 10-member team of high schoolers that supports our efforts to learn from our students’ experiences, better support alumni civic leadership development, and elevate student voice in the democracy education field. All GC alumni, ages 14-20, are encouraged to apply.

Off the wall non-structured dance class to get blood flowing and hearts racing. We use ribbon dancing, instruments, and hula hoops to create a fun and silly experience. Come join the group to watch a great movie at the theater (Portsmouth Cinemagic or O’Neil Cinema). Volunteers help with ticket and food purchases and enjoy the movie. Volunteers are expected to purchase their own movie ticket.

Our participants love to play basketball. Some participants have been playing together for ten years. They are really good. You’ll be amazed at some of the great shooters we have. Wear comfortable clothing and good sneakers. Volunteers play basketball, keep score, and help with substituting players.

Come join us for some great bowling. Volunteers help keep score, visit with participants and bowl if they would like. Cost to bowl is $7.50 per person.
