Each month, our food pantry serves up to 3,000 families in need in South Orange County. Food Pantry Volunteers assist clients with shopping for food, and they help sort through food donations, stock the pantry shelves, and keep the pantry clean and organized.
Public Program docents are the heart and soul of our visitor experience. Public program volunteers serve as docents, guides, and exhibit facilitators throughout our facility 7 days a week. These volunteers help inspire visitors about the ocean and maritime history through memorable and hands-on experiences! Volunteers must be age 14 and older.

Docents are those rare and special individuals who honor the history and romance of the tallship era. They dress in period attire, demonstrate crafts and skills of tallship sailors, lead tours of the Pilgrim, and occasionally sing chanteys and weave tall tales. Volunteers must be age 16 and older.
The Basic Needs Program supports families who are working to establish a healthy non-abusive environment for their children. These families lack the basic items needed to raise their children. Also known as micro-fundraising, individuals will raise money through their own individual fundraising efforts such as running a Marathon, hosting a cocktail party or a car wash. Individuals volunteer their time and solicit donations from family, friends and/or colleagues to support the Prevention Center and our cause.
Students, groups or businesses interested in doing a one-time project to help the Prevention Center can spearhead the collection of much needed items. Examples include: Diaper Drive, Backpack Drive or School Supplies Drive.
Volunteers are needed to assist with general office support such as: organizing and maintaining the Resource wall, inventorying and sorting the supply room, sanding and painting wooden toys to give to children, special event mailers, assembling thank you gifts, and other projects.
There are various ways that volunteers can help including: assisting various departments with clerical duties and other tasks, delivering mail and flowers to patients and staff, assisting with patient discharge, assisting with providing a warm welcome at one of our information desks, or visiting with patients and circulating books, magazines, videos, playing cards and puzzles…
Many of our guests rarely receive a home-cooked meal, and are very appreciative when a dinner is provided . You can schedule your family or group to provide a weekday meal. (We ask that you plan to feed 20 people)
