Run a workshop in an area of expertise; ie. dance, yoga, etc. Teach or assist in adults’ computer classes. Run tax workshops for community members. Help out at special events.

The Stone House also welcomes volunteer groups to help with yard clean up, painting, gardening and other projects.

Our comforting, made-from-scratch meals send the message to those in greatest need that someone cares. We invite children (and adults) of all ages to help brighten our clients’ day with handmade cards throughout the year.

Adults, teens (13-17), and children (8-12, accompanied by adult) are needed to sort and package donations of clothes, toys, and baby equipment. We have two locations to choose from: Boxford (clothes and baby equipment) on the 1st Saturday of each month or Middleton (toys) on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

We welcome groups of all ages and sizes (from 5 up to 100) at our North Grafton location (May 1-October 21), and groups (up to 30) of high school age and up at our Harvard location (September 4-October 15). Host a Drive: We ask all of our volunteer groups to host a product collection prior to their visit to help us further our mission. Pre-Register Your Group: It is crucial that all volunteers coming to your shift pre-register by using the link in the confirmation email received by the group leader.

A volunteer shift in The Giving Factory Warehouse involves hands-on processing of the donated goods that flow in on a regular basis. Each station in our warehouse includes inspecting, sorting, and packaging donations to ultimately be distributed to the children we serve.

Throughout the week, generous members of our community bring their new and gently used donations to our Dracut Distribution Center. Volunteers help sort through the many bags and boxes we receive, looking for any stains, rips, inappropriate messaging or style, and out-of-style clothing. Volunteers may also be asked to fold or hang items once processed.

Volunteer events are a great way to get outside, learn more about the river, have fun working with friends, coworkers, and neighbors, and help restore the centerpiece of Greater Boston’s urban park system.
