Volunteers work at the museum, build exhibits, and assist with record-keeping, maintenance of exhibits, and programming.

Join our fundraising event committee or help out at an event. Or help fund raise through grant writing.

At the Light Station, we also have a number of positions in our Museum store, answering questions, selling tickets, books and souvenirs to finance the restoration and preservation of the oldest Lighthouse in Michigan.

All of our sites are accepting docents who are on the front lines, giving tours and answering questions to the thousands of visitors we receive a year.

Work backstage during a show, assist with costumes or props, join the set building and painting crew, usher or sell concessions. Sound interesting?

Assist by organizing events, soliciting donations, grant writing, grant management, identification of grant opportunities, and more.

Take part in our education programs by conducting school field trip presentations, liaising with schools, and developing new field trip opportunities.

We also have a role for volunteers behind the scenes. With tens of thousands of artifacts in our collection, the Museum is constantly inventorying and cataloging these historical treasures. We are also always looking for those who like to write, or are handy with a hammer.
