Manage the service unit membership (girls, caregivers, and volunteers) throughout the troop year by coordinating regular meetings and events, promoting and communicating council initiatives and objectives, and providing guidance and support to service unit members.
Generation Citizen teachers are middle or high school educators who either work alongside a college volunteer Democracy Coach or independently to lead action civics programming. Come join the group to watch a great movie at the theater (Portsmouth Cinemagic or O’Neil Cinema). Volunteers help with ticket and food purchases and enjoy the movie. Volunteers are expected to purchase their own movie ticket.
Our participants love to play basketball. Some participants have been playing together for ten years. They are really good. You’ll be amazed at some of the great shooters we have. Wear comfortable clothing and good sneakers. Volunteers play basketball, keep score, and help with substituting players.

The Friday Night Social is Friends in Action’s biggest program. Sponsor & Serve a meal at Woods Mullen Shelter. The shelter loves the help and your presence means a lot to shelter guests. You can also host a Recreational Activity like BINGO on the night you serve. This is an especially nice activity when people are stuck inside during the winter months.
Teach a Life Skills Workshop like budgeting, resume writing, interviewing, time management, goal setting, etc. to people transitioning to independence. You can also lead a group activity focused on wellness and fitness, recovery/therapy, arts and crafts, and other related topics. Yoga, meditation, creative writing, music appreciation, knitting are just a few examples.
