Volunteers in our STRP Program gain experience in: youth development, mentoring, 1:1 and small group management, teaching tennis / fitness curricula, teaching literacy curricula.

We offer a variety of programs throughout the year. Volunteers help with publicity and, on the day of the program, greet visitors; set up and break down chairs and equipment; arrange for refreshments; and, when applicable, assist with book sales for author events.

The Bidwell House gardens are cared for by a head gardener, but we could always use help with weeding, pruning, etc. All levels of gardening expertise are welcome. This is a great opportunity for the novice gardener to gain experience and knowledge. Garden work takes place from April through October.

Construction Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather and the day’s work assignments. Wear comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting dirty. Without volunteers we wouldn’t be able to keep the doors open. We rely heavily upon those who are willing to dedicate their time, energy and goodwill. The experience gained by volunteering to help others are rewarding in many ways.

With your school or office, in your neighborhood, with a sports group, or somewhere of your choosing – collect food items, coats, school supplies, etc. and donate them to Project Just Because to help people in need.
