Direct Service is on-site volunteering. Direct service opportunities include but are not limited to: cooking and/or serving a meal, picking up and/or dropping off donations, working in our food pantry, cleaning, laundry, tutoring, doing craft projects with the children at our Family Shelter, and completing outdoor clean-up projects.
Run a workshop in an area of expertise; ie. dance, yoga, etc. Teach or assist in adults’ computer classes. Run tax workshops for community members. Help out at special events.
Food Pantry Volunteers will assist in greeting consumers, helping consumers fill out forms, stocking food pantry, packing grocery bags, unpacking food deliveries, cleaning the pantry, and taking inventory.
The Stone House also welcomes volunteer groups to help with yard clean up, painting, gardening and other projects.
Our comforting, made-from-scratch meals send the message to those in greatest need that someone cares. We invite children (and adults) of all ages to help brighten our clients’ day with handmade cards throughout the year.
We offer team-building opportunities for corporations, religious groups, alumni associations, and other organizations. Our kitchen can accommodate small and large groups. Volunteers must be 13+. Groups receive a 30-minute orientation and food safety training at the start of their shift.
Neighbors helping neighbors – help to create safe and healthy homes for everyone by installing grab bars, windows, fixing leaks and the like for our neighbors in need.
Help sort and prepare produce in our receiving area for sale or for kitchen use, label and package prepared foods alongside our kitchen staff, help cooks in the kitchen, stock retail shelves, stock/reorganize cooler and freezer units, or interact with customers in our food sampling/engagement area.
Adults, teens (13-17), and children (8-12, accompanied by adult) are needed to sort and package donations of clothes, toys, and baby equipment. We have two locations to choose from: Boxford (clothes and baby equipment) on the 1st Saturday of each month or Middleton (toys) on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
Spend time with your colleagues and friends making a difference. Assist with Bundles of Kindness, Twice Loved Toys, or Select Saturdays. Evening opportunities are available by appointment.
