Supervise and entertain the children of HAWC clients during support groups or in office appointments as needed.
Answer calls on HAWC’s 24-Hour Hotline, guide callers through safety planning, give community referrals, and keep a call log with other volunteers and staff members.
Conduct presentations about HAWC services for local community partners, attend community events as a HAWC representative, and answer questions about HAWC.
Assist professional crew during onboard education programs and public sails. Teach during our shore side education programs or in the classroom. Volunteer as educators during our summer camp programs.
Assist individuals seeking protective orders in Salem and Lynn District courts, as well as Essex County Family and Probate. SAFEPLAN volunteers must also attend a four-day training in Lawrence through the Massachusetts Office of Victim Assistance.
Potential projects include: collecting data throughout the year as part of our citizen science monitoring projects, helping organize and run clean up events, and spreading the ‘action’ message of our mission.
Answer our business line, greet visitors, make copies, process donations, prepare bulk mailings, enter data, and perform computer processes with other volunteers and staff members.
Help with projects onboard Piscataqua as needed, especially during uprig, downrig, and annual spring haul-out. Help remove the winter cover at the start of the season and build the cover at the end of the season. Assist in maintaining the docks and small boats as needed.
Assist in the office as needed for data entry and office assistance tasks. Help with marketing by distributing flyers around the seacoast area. Help to table during festivals and fairs.
