Volunteers and Docents are essential to the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society. Volunteers can help with a variety of tasks, such as, leading school tours, operating Watson Cabin, cataloging materials, building exhibits and planning and executing program and events.
Volunteers help with office management duties in our Truckee office. These duties might include assisting with donor mailers (stuffing and addressing envelopes), making phone calls to donors and potential donors, assisting with filing, and other tasks as they become relevant.
Clerical assistance for the lab draws twice a month.
Visit with or read to residents, help in the activities room, take residents for a walk, play cards and games, and more.
At our HUB of Hope food distribution center, you can end hunger for homeless and low-income families and individuals by transporting, sorting, and stocking food.
Plan, promote, and execute school partner or community engagement events. Help with logistical, “day of” tasks like setting up and breaking down equipment or running registration. Engage local businesses and organizations to support events.
We ask different groups of volunteers to come with food for the shelter as well as arts and crafts or activities for the children on Thursday nights. It is family friendly, kids of all ages are welcome to attend with their parents.
We also need volunteers to pick up furniture and other heavy items from donors. If you have a pick-up truck and some strong friends Thomas House could really use your support. We often have to decline donations of excellent furniture that our graduate families really need because we do not have any means of transporting…
Detail-oriented individuals are encouraged to help the Thomas House administrative team with mailings, database maintenance, filing, marketing, fund raising, office supplies orders, and more.
Thomas House hosts three special events every year, and planning occurs year-round. We need organized and flexible volunteers to help us plan and execute extraordinary fundraisers for homeless families with children.
