A big help you can do for us is making more locals aware of our rescue! We have a variety of flyers that we welcome volunteers to bring to local veterinary offices, pet shops, coffee shops, and stores to post up to raise awareness about our rescue and our services!
We love volunteers who can make binders with pet profiles for animals who have been in our care for a long time. Those binders can then be dropped off at veterinary offices and pet-related stores such as grooming centers and supply stores so that people can look through them to see if there are animals…
Reach out to local restaurants and chains to see if they have fundraising options – these are often “events” created so that friends, family, and people in the community can visit a restaurant on a certain day and mention the fundraiser’s name. Then, a % of those purchases goes directly to us!
We are in HUGE need of kitten fosters during this time! Kitten season is around the here (March – October) – during this time, we get calls daily about litters who need rescuing and pulling from the euthanasia list, and we can’t do it without a massive pool of foster homes for them to go…

LIFT has a lot of programs, projects, and activities that are amplified by our volunteers. From volunteering at our Self Care Fair to donating some hours for your expertise (general counsel, healthcare, etc), there’s a way for everyone to get involved.
Walking Dogs at the Athens Co. Dog Shelter: walkers provide exercise and enrichment for dogs currently being housed att the shelter. Walkers MUST attend a new volunteer training session prior to walking dogs.
