Located in the San Fernando Valley. Volunteers help at one of two domestic violence shelters, assisting with: child activities, grocery shopping, answering our “information” hot line and participating in special activities. Family Violence Project volunteers require a special training that JFS provides and is mandated by the State of California.
Volunteers for the Community Advocacy Program (CAP) gain hands-on experience assisting persons with disabilities and their advocates with disability related issues via the intake line. They also gain case management experience and may develop community outreach and education experience. The CAP Program accepts undergraduate, graduate, and law student volunteers and well as community volunteers.
DRLC is looking to work with Junior and Summer Associates to focus on potential high impact court cases affecting people with disabilities. Homeboy’s team of volunteer attorneys provides free consultations and referrals pertaining to many legal matters, especially criminal law, including bench warrants and post-conviction matters, immigration law, employment law and family law, addressing such issues as divorce, child custody and visitation, and child support.
