We have many service events available for larger groups and businesses seeking to build on their social responsibility programs within the community through volunteer service.
Child Creativity Lab hosts numerous S.T.E.A.M.-based, creativity-enhancing workshops on-site at schools, after-school programs, libraries, and many other community locations every single week. Volunteers will interact with wonderful kids, encourage them to express their unique creative personalities, and assist with putting together their creations.
Casa Teresa provides a wide range of on-going classes that help our residents achieve independence, including GED preparation, nutrition, home economics, literacy, budgeting, career planning, resume workshops and building self-esteem. We accept qualified instructors who are willing to provide their talent and skill for the benefit of our residents.
From time to time, our office staff and house mothers have a need for help with various duties around the campus. This may include preparing and cleaning rooms for incoming residents, organizing baby clothes, babysitting, answering phones, data entry and filing.
Casa Teresa receives hundreds of in-kind donations weekly that need to be sorted and organized for our moms and babies. Donations are used in many different ways, but the first priority is always our moms. Residents have the first pick of all in-kind donations.
A variety of roles are available as front desk greeters, tour and gallery docents, administrative assistants, and gardeners. Volunteers also support our staff at performances and public events, fulfilling duties as ticketing personnel, ushers, and food and beverage personnel. One of the most important things we do is give out care info to help people know how to properly care for their rabbit, chins and piggies. We have a training program for this for those who are interested.
With some training you can apply to become an adoption manager, which means you can screen applicants who are interested in adopting, as well as give care info and advice.
