Job Description/Purpose: To provide temporary animal companionship for residents of assisted living and senior centers, allowing the animals to socialize outside of the facility.
To exercise and socialize dogs, in the shelter, by taking them individually outside for walks and playtime on the Humane Society of Greater Dayton property. This alleviates stress and gives the dogs much needed exercise thus increasing their chances of being adopted. It is also a great opportunity for teaching the dogs basic socialization skills.
In Los Angeles, we are serving an average 150 – 200 families a week. Our main location of service is 5036 Exposition Blvd on Saturdays 11 am- 1 pm. Volunteers interact with residents in the hope of providing support, encouragement and informal mentoring. Volunteers become a temporary “community net” while people are working through the matters that caused them to experience homelessness. The staff members of the Timothy House also rely on volunteers to provide practical assistance in the daily operation of the house.
Our volunteer tutors provide focused support to school-aged children experiencing homelessness in schools and shelters throughout Indianapolis. To exercise and socialize cats in the shelter, by taking them individually into bonding rooms for playtime on the Humane Society of Greater Dayton property. Official volunteers observe behavior and health and alerts the staff to any issues which may effect the animal’s adoptability.
Sort through and organize historical Rural Action/AOPIC photos and publications; maintain the current digital photo database; organize and maintain the Rural Action reference library; and develop new systems for preserving important materials. Assist in maintaining the grounds at the Kuhre Center for Rural Renewal offices in Trimble Ohio including mowing, weeding and planting flower beds, trimming bushes and general beautification of grounds.
