Education volunteers encourage the public to think and learn about animals, habitats and conservation by helping them understand exhibits, enrichment and animal behaviors in an engaging way. They involve the public with educational tools and kits. Education volunteers must be 16+.

We have a partnership with the Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. (ABCD) through their SummerWorks and Career Exploration programs, which introduce younger workers to career fields and job skills that teach the importance of work, while also contributing to family income and stability.
Gardener volunteers assist in the preparation, installation and maintenance of Zoo New England park grounds. Gardener volunteers must be 18+.
Assists Commissary staff in daily routine and provides quality, professional support to the staff as needed in diet preparation for Zoo animals. Commissary volunteers must be 18+
This volunteer opportunity is for motivated, independent, gregarious individuals that enjoy answering questions, interacting with guests, and have a passion for animals and conservation. Zoo Ambassadors are trained in educational and guest relations techniques. They assist with admissions, guest services and education. Zoo Ambassadors must be 16+.
Artists! Teach a painting class with a soothing and comfortable atmosphere. Every Tuesday, 6 – 7:30 pm. Not required every week; willing to have multiple teachers to fit varying schedules.
Help us organize our Community Hygiene Pantry! We are constantly giving out our inventory and receiving new donations. Help keep it beautiful!
Volunteer facilitators lead discussions, play games, read stories and create arts and crafts with all the grieving young people in our program. With the help of our caring adult facilitators, participants make new friends and share about their experience of loss.
