Mentors are essential to the success of college graduates. The college has volunteer opportunities available for people of all ages and backgrounds. Volunteers can work for just a few hours, or they can give more time if available.

Provide crisis intervention, make appropriate assessment, maintain confidentiality, provide appropriate services, empower clients, and document.

Specific requirements will depend on the position. Support and encourage moms and caregivers or assist in other areas such as laundry, cleaning, or the front desk. Must be 21+ and complete a background check.

Commit to a minimum of 100 hours per year, most shifts will be in 3- or 4-hour increments. Specific requirements will depend on the position.

Chatfield College events like the Nun Run 5K & the Quilt, Car and Craft Show are made possible because of the many fine volunteers who give of their time and talents.

Volunteer Counselors are trained to answer calls coming in to our 24-hour crisis hotline including providing referrals, emotional support, and trauma-informed care to callers. Commitment: Advocate Training; 3 hours of hotline orientation & shadowing; 2 hour shifts available weekly or monthly, Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Volunteers help provide childcare at CPAF’s shelters. They spend time reading, drawing, and playing–following the child’s lead and engaging their interests! Child care volunteers play a critical role in supporting children who have experienced loss and trauma. Commitment: Advocate Training; 2 hour shelter orientation; 2-4 hours monthly on weekdays, evenings, and/or weekends.

Volunteers help staff information tables at community events, plan or host volunteer & donor gatherings, canvass neighborhood businesses, connect CPAF to in-language media outlets, create or write social media & online content, and much more! Commitment: 2 hour outreach orientation; 1-2 volunteer hours per month.

Volunteers are trained to provide interpretation for mono-lingual or limited-English speaking clients, and to translate service agency forms or documents. Volunteers also help CPAF create or translate campaigns into API languages such as our “Love is…” campaign for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Commitment: 5 hour Volunteer Interpreter Training; regular remote and/or in-person availability.
