Are you “hands-on”? Do you like to fix or maintain? Facility volunteers help with facility maintenance, do light carpentry, maintain grounds water plants, change lightbulbs. These volunteers like to “do.”

Assist the shelter by helping plan or coordinate fundraising efforts. Or spread the word in the community by assisting with marketing.

Like working with people? Like to cook? Our events are volunteer-staffed, and we couldn’t host them without the help of many hands. Duties might include greeters, event set-up and clean-up, refreshments, photography, or committee involvement.

Fostering cats in your home. If you can provide a wonderful, temporary home for cats and kittens, FCS also uses foster homes for cats.

The Dundee Area Senior Center is happy to welcome community groups, student groups and seniors to share their talents and interests with our members in various volunteer opportunities available at our facility.

We have an ongoing bottle drive. This has provided a monthly amount to help with bills. Volunteers sort and return bottles and hand in the receipts. This has become larger over the years and in 2020 the bottle drive raised over $40K!

Occasional transport of pets is needed for events, special vet care and picking up new arrivals.

Laundry is never ending with the number of animals housed at the center. There are four washers/dryers that are ongoing throughout the day. Volunteers can also take laundry home and bring it back to help with the large loads onsite.

Scoop feces using a metal or plastic scoop and discard in the outdoor trash cans provided. To keep disease and parasites at a minimum, this is an extremely important daily task. • Fill holes the dogs dig in the yards so they don’t sprain ankles. Rake the strewn dirt or bring dirt in the wheel…
