Foster families bring pets temporarily into their homes, caring for cat moms and kittens, as well as providing love and care for the dogs and cats whose health or emotional issues make shelter life too hard. SAS provides all food and supplies, fosters just must have time, patience and space!

Someone needs to keep ahead of all this grass! Even if you can only come one afternoon for a few hours of string trimming, our guests will appreciate anything you can do.

Please come and help us maintain our beautiful grounds. We have 5 spacious acres which include the Memorial Gardens, Paw Playground, Pond and Gazebo. If you love being outdoors this is a perfect opportunity for you. You do not need to be a Master Gardener to participate in our Garden Club.

Do you enjoy working with the public? CHS has a need for volunteers to greet and direct people as they come in to visit with the animals. Training will be provided onsite.

CHS hosts special events and fundraisers throughout the year. While working at an event, you may set up CHS areas, staff an information booth, answer questions about the shelter, direct traffic through the event, and much more. If you love interacting with people, this is the perfect role for you.

Volunteer for winter gift wrapping drive, plan and implement spring fundraiser, solicit donations from local businesses, help set up for member events.

Volunteers assist clients who come to the pantry by helping pack their grocery bags and loading these into their vehicles. Volunteers also sort donated food items and stock shelves in the pantry. Provide housing and hospitality for out-of-town performers, prepare food for Puppet Slams, assist teaching artists with materials prep for craft activities.

Help to support virtual programming by fostering a supportive & welcoming environment; game night, comic book workshops, terrarium-building, etc.
