Dog adventures are a great way for adoptable dogs to get some extra special one-on-one time with humans. They are really easy to do: complete a volunteer application; schedule a date and time to pick up with our coordinator; and spoil them with attention – like a nice walk, a special snack (like a puppacino),…
Join the historical society and get involved with the newsletter, programs, publicity, fundraising, and organizational support.
Volunteers can also assist with transporting, fundraising, Adopt-A-Road clean up, and deep cleaning our intake facility.
Assist throughout the year with activities and events such as Gordon Hall Days, Christmas Bazaar, Gordon Hall Christmas Events, and the Dexter Heritage Guild.
Gordon Hall volunteers help us prepare and rehabilitate the building. This includes housekeeping, building maintenance, landscape maintenance, and working as a tour guide.
Transportation volunteers assist with picking up/dropping off dogs going from the shelter to vet visits, to new foster homes, and to adoption events.
We are a foster-based rescue. All of our babies are being fostered in homes with families.
Volunteers help out with maintenance tasks around the kennel to make sure everything runs smoothly and safely.
Fostering is a very rewarding opportunity. Fostering turns the community into an extension of the rescue, gets pets out of the kennel, and tells us their behavior in a home versus the overwhelming shelter environment.
Volunteers help with planning and preparation for fundraising events and help get the word out about the rescue and special events.
