Volunteers help watch children during parent education/information activities.
Playgroups are open to any family in the area with children birth through 4 years of age. The playgroups provide an opportunity for children and parents to play in an environment that is supportive and nurturing. Morning playgroups are offered in the communities of Houghton, and Mohawk.
SHF views Special Events as an integral piece of its overall giving strategy, while at the same time, strengthening relationships and partnerships with people and businesses all across the region. It hosts four special events annually, along with two grant celebrations: Golf Outing (June), Gala (September), Painting the Peninsula Pink (October), Spring Grants Celebration (April)…
Transport Veterans receiving chemotherapy, dialysis, radiation therapy, and other outpatient appointments. To fill this role, you must have a current driver’s license, automobile insurance, clean driving record and be able to pass a physical exam provided by the VA. Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Schedule Volunteer drivers to transport Veterans to and from medical appointments.
Assist in various medical or administrative offices in the Medical Center. Duties include filing, answering phones, greeting and directing patients. Hours: Variable.
Assist patients and visitors with information at one of our four Primary Care Clinics or at the Medical Center. Hours: 7:30 – 11:30am or 11:30am – 4:00pm.
e-Buddies helps build e-mail friendships between people with and without intellectual disabilities.
Help us get the animals to vet appointments and adoption events.
