English for New Bostonians holds events throughout the year and frequently need volunteers to help support them in roles such as on-site registration, set-up and breakdown, and other logistics.

Direct Service is on-site volunteering. Direct service opportunities include but are not limited to: cooking and/or serving a meal, picking up and/or dropping off donations, working in our food pantry, cleaning, laundry, tutoring, doing craft projects with the children at our Family Shelter, and completing outdoor clean-up projects.

Indirect service includes off-site projects such as running food or supply drives, preparing and delivering meals, or putting together hygiene or other kits for our residents. Because of its scheduling flexibility, indirect service is ideal for youth groups, business teams, or other large groups.

We often need help with other areas such as administration, event planning, fundraising, community outreach, yard work and maintenance, writing, and marketing. If you’d like to help in any of those areas, we’d love to have you volunteer with us.

FamilyAid Boston occasionally seeks volunteer groups for projects at our affordable housing buildings. Opportunities may include: painting, cleaning, and yardwork.

Opportunities include sorting non perishable food that is still safe to eat so we can distribute the food to organizations serving people in need; assisting at fundraisers and reaching out to the public at local events. These activities may be appropriate for children over 8 years old and groups.

Opportunities in development include: Fundraising/Grants, Project/Board Management, Event Organizer.

Run a workshop in an area of expertise; ie. dance, yoga, etc. Teach or assist in adults’ computer classes. Run tax workshops for community members. Help out at special events.

Food Pantry Volunteers will assist in greeting consumers, helping consumers fill out forms, stocking food pantry, packing grocery bags, unpacking food deliveries, cleaning the pantry, and taking inventory.

The Stone House also welcomes volunteer groups to help with yard clean up, painting, gardening and other projects.
