This committee is dedicated to encouraging people in their 20s and 30s to get involved in the AMC and enjoy the outdoors. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers interested in becoming involved with the Committee.
Our one-day trail events offer the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of trail maintenance or building from skilled AMC Trail Crew Leaders right in Boston’s backyard.
Sample volunteer projects include: landscaping and yard clean-up at one of our 175 programs, interior painting at one of our many residential or day programs, or cooking with CASPAR (prepare and serve a meal to guests at our homeless shelter in Cambridge).
The Young Professional Advocates are a group of people 21-35 years of age who are interested in meeting other socially-minded individuals. This group’s philosophy is that charity does not have to feel like an obligation. Their meetings are productive but also fun, often taking place at a bowling alley or over a pizza party.
Some of the ways you can help by include: joining our Networking Outreach Committee that discusses job opportunities for Communitas job seekers, teaching employment skills, or employing an intern at your place of business.
As a volunteer, you’ll design quilts, machine piece the quilt tops, layer with batting, and hand quilt. You’ll also produce a variety of patterns, colors, and sizes of quilts. Most of the quilts are raffled to benefit the Village. Our quilters all come with varying backgrounds and abilities, so beginners are always welcome!
Assist with research, writing, planning, and communication for 5-10 hours a week. Or commit to 10-15 hours a week and take on multiple roles in different departments or a more robust role including managing projects or departments.
