Volunteers lend helping hands during special events. You can help with the planning, help us set up or take down, lead an activity, greet guest or more! Besides being great fun, these events are critical for the community contact and fundraising capabilities of Urban Roots.

Stop by the Urban Teaching Farm at Renown (1700 East 2nd Street) Saturday mornings from 9-11 and help us with special projects or regular farm maintenance.

Volunteers help parents and students engage in basic science exploration. During Family Science Nights, we offer 8 to 10 stations of simple science experiments testing different concepts and processes. Volunteers don’t need science knowledge to run the stations.

Volunteers will help with GOTR activities including along face painting, race bib bling, happy hair and photo booth. These volunteer opportunities are great for parents, teens, and groups.
