Generation Citizen teachers are middle or high school educators who either work alongside a college volunteer Democracy Coach or independently to lead action civics programming. If you’re a teacher, we would love to support you in exploring the potential of action civics for your classroom and for your students’ lives.

Teach a Life Skills Workshop like budgeting, resume writing, interviewing, time management, goal setting, etc. to people transitioning to independence. You can also lead a group activity focused on wellness and fitness, recovery/therapy, arts and crafts, and other related topics. Yoga, meditation, creative writing, music appreciation, knitting are just a few examples.

We engage volunteer providers, nurses, and other health care professionals to supplement the work of our staff. The number we can accept is limited by space and insurance constraints, but if you are interested we would like to hear from you.

Practice dentistry with Families First. Depending on needs, you may see patients onsite at the Dental Center or in the community on the Mobile Dental Van. Must be currently licensed to practice, background checks, and more.

Share your professional knowledge or specialty topic through a parenting class, parenting series, or parent recharge group. Sample topics include anger management, mental health, scrapbooking, etc.

We arrange mock interview events throughout the year for immigrants interested in practicing their job interview skills. We are looking for professionals in many different career areas and are especially interested in those who have experience in human resources or hiring. Teach our curriculum, with resources provided by Debate Mate USA, to local students. We assign our mentors to Boston area middle schools, and you travel there to teach for one hour a week, for the duration of the program.

STEM Volunteers will contribute to East End House’s School Age and Middle School Programs by connecting with children and youth during afterschool hours. As professionals or students from the STEM sector, STEM Volunteers will share their knowledge, interest, and work with young people.

Run a workshop in an area of expertise; ie. dance, yoga, etc. Teach or assist in adults’ computer classes. Run tax workshops for community members. Help out at special events.
