Volunteers are crucial to the success of our fundraising events. Many enjoy getting involved in annual events like the Walk Against Domestic Violence and the White Ribbon Breakfast, while others help with community outreach throughout the year.
Fundraising volunteers identify grant funding sources and write applications, support the Hellcat Trail Boardwalk Plank Fundraiser team by assisting with photographing planks and transporting them to/from the engraver, and create additional fundraising opportunities.
Outreach volunteers help by writing articles for local news media and our Facebook page, participating in community events, coordinating outreach events, helping build partnerships with local groups and organizations, generating interest in refuge volunteer tasks, and assist with the recruitment of new members.
Work with older adults to develop basic money management skills such as paying bills, budgeting, and writing checks.
Provide companionship and assistance to isolated older adults by engaging in routine activities or participating in social programs.
Assist with community activities, fundraising efforts, planning, set up and break down of events.
Meals on Wheels drivers deliver nutritionally balanced meals to home bound elders and adults with disabilities throughout the Merrimack Valley.
Companion Volunteers are needed to provide socialization and companionship to persons with memory loss, providing much needed time off for the caregiver. Companions undergo screening, CORI checks, receive REST training and ongoing supervision.
The Money Management Program is always looking for volunteers to help elders organize their bills, create budgets, write checks, and monitor their income and expenses. All volunteers receive training and are expected to spend two to three hours with the elder each month.
The Ombudsman is a resident advocate, helping to ensure the quality of care, life and environment for people who live in nursing homes. Volunteers make weekly visits to the nursing home to listen to and assist in resolving any resident concerns. Volunteers receive training and ongoing support and supervision.
