On occasion, HOWS Project has dogs in need of short-term foster to heal from their spay/neuter surgery when their person, for whatever reason, is unable to keep them “inside” during their recovery period. Regular volunteers commit to serving at The Center 1+ days a week in the capacity of participating in or leading groups, attending coffee hour, cleaning, or assisting with office work. Weekly shifts range from 1.5-8 hours per shift.

We have great opportunities to volunteer and learn about the homeless situation in our community with your friends or coworkers. Your team will do a mix of volunteering with our participants, assisting with projects around the building, and participate in a discussion panel / Q&A time with a small group of our participants over lunch.

We are always looking for individuals to donate their professional skills to The Center. Below is a (non-exhaustive) list of some skills that we are looking for currently: hair stylist, plumber, foot care, photographer/videographer, IT person, mechanic, lawyer, accounting, cook, PR, musicians, dentist, optometrist, doctor, data entry, and gardeners.

Folks can expect a wide variety of tasks, including barn building projects, invasive removal, cutting and breakdown of brush, gardening and weeding, transplanting, and other general land care.
