reDiscover Center regularly get donations of discarded household, commercial, and industrial materials that have the potential to have a second life as “rediscovered” material for art and education. Those donations need to be sorted, cleaned, photographed, and shelved.

A short term, occasional opportunity includes helping out our activities booth at local Farmers Markets and Festivals.

Long-term commitments include working with kids on a regular basis during Tinkering Club and camp. If you can commit to a regular schedule we can teach you how to use the tools and our pedagogy and then you can work with the kids.

Work with high schoolers throughout the year by providing them guidance through high school and advice on higher education. Experience in college admissions and education is highly appreciated. Mentoring commitment is for an entire school year.

All interested individuals must attend a mandatory 40-hour domestic violence counselor training program mandated by California Evidence Code §1037.1. Trainings are held in the spring and fall. Volunteer opportunities include working in the following areas: 24-Hour Hotline, empowerment playgroups, support groups, court/visitation accompaniment, interpretation/translation; horticultural therapy, donation sorting, transportation and clerical work.
