As a trained volunteer, you’ll spot and track Pacific gray whales on their annual migration, recording counts and behaviors. Also, identify and record other marine mammals seen. (December – May)
Assist office staff with various clerical duties: special mailings, filing, data entry, etc. Hours are flexible depending upon project needs.
Sponsored by Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and the American Cetacean Society-Los Angeles Chapter. You’ll be trained as a naturalist to narrate whale watching trips on boats that depart from local landings December 26 through March observing gray whales, dolphins, sea lions, and birds. Naturalists also give presentations in classrooms.
Assist Education Staff with various activities including SEA SEARCH programs, marine lab/classroom set-up; beach programs like Key to the Sea; Exploration Center; special tours; and providing educational and recreational programs to schools and the public.
Members volunteer time in our philanthropic projects; the Frances J. Johnson Dental Center, Operation School Bell®, Operation Hug, and work in our fundraising projects; postal contract station, gift and consignment shop, plus other committees and positions of leadership in our organization.
The boys and girls of Assisteens focus on Community Service, Leadership, and Teamwork. Assisteens participate in a variety of valuable philanthropic works in the community and, in addition, support the philanthropic projects of the main chapter. Members range from 7th to 12th grade.
Members provide meals for individuals and families in our congregation in times of need–after a birth or death, during an illness or recovery from surgery.
