We offer a range of volunteer opportunities such as: working directly at one of our housing/residential programs, gardening and helping out at ReVision Urban Farm, serving meals or teaching classes at the Boston Living Center, participating in one of our fundraising and special events, helping with administrative tasks, and assisting with graphic design needs.

TV pledge volunteers answer phones and record pledges of support from donors as part of WGBH’s fundraising drives. Volunteering during our live fundraising drives is a great way to meet new people, experience the thrill of being on a live TV set, and support local public media.

Community Ambassadors promote WGBH membership to the public at events held in our Brighton studios and out in the community. Volunteering for this position lets you participate in community events as a representative of WGBH, meeting new people while sharing your passion for public media.

Docents provide behind-the-scenes tours that include a visit to WGBH’s TV and radio production facilities, performance spaces, and more. Our Brighton studios provide the perfect venue to welcome the public for screenings, live music, and other events that amplify the impact of public media. Read more about our studio tour program.

Do you have a skill that could help our operations? We are always looking for marketing, graphic design, event planning, construction work, and HR services.

UpReach sits on 96 beautiful acres, which require constant upkeep. We are always looking for individuals who can assist with general maintenance, as well as repairs and improvements to the facility. Year-round opportunities include mowing, weed-whacking, mulching the trail, gardening and weeding, paddock picking, snow blowing, painting, fence repairs, and more!

Corporate, youth, and community service organizations provide huge help with one-day volunteer projects! Examples of past projects include fence repairs, tack cleaning, trail clearing and maintenance, spring cleanup, painting, event preparation, and power washing to name a few.

As a horse leader or handler, you are responsible for the horse and should be alert and aware of the horse’s behavior at all times. All those handling horses in therapeutic riding or driving lessons or hippotherapy sessions must attend both Taking the Lead and UpReach volunteer training.

Fresh Truck volunteers engage with shoppers, bag and restock items on the truck, as well as assist in clean up at the end of the market.

Particularly in the warm-weather months, we schedule community-building events that might be anything from a cookout to a neighborhood walk. Volunteers are welcome to join us, pitch in, and get to know your community.
