Volunteers are needed for a number of YMCA programs including Youth Sports, Aquatics, Fitness Center, Preschool and School Age Child Care, Computer Learning Center and special event helpers.
Grounds and custodial volunteers help keep the facility clean and safe.
Volunteers are matched with homebound elders for 1 hour weekly social visits. Friendly Visitors alleviate the isolation and loneliness many elders experience and can provide much needed respite for family caregivers. Friendly Visitors are asked to make a minimum 6 month commitment.
Volunteers help elders with bill paying and budgeting tasks. The volunteer commits to 2-4 hours a month helping the elder in their home. Money Managers are asked to make a 1 year commitment. In conjunction with AARP guidelines, volunteers participate in a 3 hour initial training.
Volunteers make weekly visits to a nursing home. They meet with residents to educate them about their rights and advocate for them. An Ombudsman is asked to make a 1 year commitment. Initial training, in conjunction with the Mass State Ombudsman Program requires 3 days.
