A very important way for volunteers to help our animals get adopted and stay in their new homes. Volunteers assist in planning one or more of the Prevention Center’s major annual fundraising events. Individual event committees meet regularly to plan the event, secure auction items, solicit corporate sponsorships, sell program ad space, tickets, organize volunteers and more!
Also known as micro-fundraising, individuals will raise money through their own individual fundraising efforts such as running a Marathon, hosting a cocktail party or a car wash. Volunteers provide regular breaks to exhausted and stressed caregivers who are overwhelmed by their selfless 24/7 care. Volunteers provide breaks of 2 to 4 hours or more per week – which are lifesaving for the caregivers and help to reduce the chance of premature institutionalization of the loved one being cared for.
Volunteers distribute coupons each summer to low-income seniors who may not be able to afford fresh produce. This important service helps to supplement the nutritional needs of seniors.
High school volunteers, under the supervision of Respite Supervisors, care for, comfort, nurture, and engage with the children while parents receive a “break” from their care giving responsibilities.
