Our mission

To provide hands-on care and support, information, referrals, education and resources for families in Orange County and surrounding areas who experience memory loss, Alzheimer’s and other dementias, while advancing critical research for a cure.

Community Outreach Volunteer

Community Outreach Volunteers are key to raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease at community events. Community Outreach Volunteers represent Alzheimer’s Orange County at Health and Wellness fairs and community events, provide materials and basic information about our no-cost programs and services, and provide public awareness, education, and support to Orange County’s communities.

Office Computer Input Volunteer

We are in need of a volunteer with database and Excel experience to help in our Programs and Services Department. Ideally, this volunteer would have familiarity with databases and Excel pivot tables, but a quick study volunteer that is comfortable learning new programs will also be a good fit.

Education Ambassador

Lack of information/misinformation about how Alzheimer’s disease affects a person pose a major barrier to families getting help. We need volunteers to help educate audiences at senior centers, community organizations, clubs, congregations, schools and more. Audiences range from 20 – 50 people. Topics include our programs and services, the disease and caregiving.

Connect 2 Culture (C2C) Volunteer

The Connect 2 Culture (C2C) program is a specialized social engagement program that offers a fun and comfortable way for people with memory loss and their care partners to build a social network and connect with like individuals in their own community through meaningful social activities. Volunteers will arrive early at assigned events and meet/coordinate with the Programs & Education Specialist. Volunteers will foster connections between clients and join in with the group activity.

Reception Desk Volunteer

The Reception Desk Volunteer will greet guests and clients and direct them to the meeting rooms, offices or contact staff. This volunteer must be comfortable answering and redirecting phone calls to staff. This position also entails small administrative tasks. Google calendar experience or willingness to learn it is necessary.

South County Front Desk Volunteer

We are looking for friendly volunteers who would enjoy manning the front desk at our South County Adult Day Services. This volunteer will be responsible for checking people in and out, greeting participants and visitors and answering phones. The days and shift times can be worked out with the supervisor to accommodate volunteers’s schedules, a shift of at least 2 hours once a week is required.

Our Gang Clubhouse Volunteer

The mission of the Our Gang Clubhouse is to provide a fun and comfortable “clubhouse” environment for persons with dementia. Participants enjoy a welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity to join in activities with their friends. A mind, body & soul focus in used in planning each session. Volunteers in the Clubhouse should be comfortable in a social setting and have a warm and understanding demeanor. Experience working with individuals with memory loss is preferred, but not required.

General Volunteer

Throughout the year we call on our general volunteers to assist with presentations and fundraising events such as our yearly Gala, Visionary Women’s Luncheon and Walks. General volunteers also assist with fundraising events that our supporters organize. Some typical duties include check-in and registration, assisting with food and beverage distribution and helping with opportunity drawings and auctions. These events are throughout Orange County.

Support Group Facilitator

Our Volunteer Support Group Facilitators are an important part of Alzheimer’s Orange County’s (AOC’s) team that provides direct services and support for families impacted by dementia. We are looking for compassionate volunteers to provide family caregivers with support and education about dementia and the challenges of caregiving, and connection to AOC for additional support. These groups allow participants to share feelings in a confidential, supportive environment.

About us

Since 1982, Alzheimer’s Orange County (formerly known as Alzheimer’s Association, Orange County Chapter), has been Orange County’s center for Alzheimer’s resources. We are dedicated to providing quality care and support services to the thousands of residents of Orange County who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease or other related dementia, and also partnering with local researchers to populate clinical trials to help find a cure.
