BeFriender MinistryA BeFriender is a lay member trained to assist with pastoral care, mainly through compassionate listening. A BeFriender can be a "companion on the journey" through a difficult time.Family PromiseThree or four times annually, Fountain Streeters work with First United Methodist Church to provide hospitality assistance to families experiencing housing difficulties.Schools of HopeThe Heart of West Michigan United Way Schools of Hope Program is improving the literacy skills of more than 400 students in Grand Rapids Public Schools. The Schools of Hope Program pairs volunteer reading tutors with students in grades 1-3 who are behind in reading. Each students works one-on-one with the same tutor once a week for 30 minutes during the school day.Build GuildThe mission of the Build Guild is: "Bringing people together to take action, whether near or far, to help make and restore homes for those who need a hand." The group has worked with the Partners in Housing Program at Family Promise of Grand Rapids and traveled as far as Texas and for disaster relief aid.God's KitchenJoin other Fountain Streeters in serving at God’s Kitchen. We provide support on the first Monday of each month, usually about four hours in the afternoon. |
