Fitness CentersLocated at our Mid-Wilshire and Valley Senior Centers. A volunteer can assist clients in exercise and fitness routines.SOVA Community Food and Resource ProgramLocated in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood and Valley areas. Volunteers pack groceries, stock shelves, help with intake, or assist at the resource center. There are also volunteer opportunities to create centerpieces (Baskets of Hope) or assist with home delivery of food bags.JFS Hope (formerly Family Violence Project)Located in the San Fernando Valley. Volunteers help at one of two domestic violence shelters, assisting with: child activities, grocery shopping, answering our “information” hot line and participating in special activities. Family Violence Project volunteers require a special training that JFS provides and is mandated by the State of California.ConnectAn errand and escort program for West Hollywood and Park LaBrea seniors. Volunteers accompany clients on shopping trips twice a month.Central AccessVolunteers respond to phone inquires, assess needs, and connect clients to resources.Senior Nutrition ProgramDining sites are located at multiple locations throughout the City and Valley. Volunteers greet guests, serve meals, and provide light clean up.Home VisitorLocated throughout the City and Valley. Visit seniors who are receive case management at home and/or in the community. Home visitors require special training.New Moms ConnectLocated in the City and Valley. Volunteers at this program, which helps new moms with post-partum depression, can work on a warm line to provide information and referrals, assist at a class, or visit families to offer emotional support. Home visitors require special training.Young LeadersThis program is open to young adults (20-39) who would like to be involved in leadership development, networking and group volunteer opportunities throughout the agency. Events take place regularly during the year.Senior CentersLocated in the Valley, West Hollywood, Mid-Wilshire, West Los Angeles, and Venice. Volunteers assist with activities, help to teach classes, or become case aides and meet with clients to complete paperwork and provide emotional support.HaMercazLocated throughout Los Angeles. At this program, which supports Jewish families that have children with special needs, volunteers can work on a warm line to provide referrals, or visit families to offer emotional support. Home visitors require special training.ChaverimLocated in the Valley. Volunteers participate in social programs for developmentally disabled adults 18 and older. They can also accompany members on trips, or lead classes.Life ProgramLocated at Park La-Brea. Volunteers assist residents by providing information and referral to community resources, visit clients in their homes, or help with activities. Home visitors require special training. |
