| Needs |
Volunteer for LAMDL - Be a JudgeOur tournaments start on Friday late afternoon and end Saturday early evening. We ask volunteers to judge in one of three sessions; two Friday debates, two Saturday morning debates, or two Saturday afternoon debates. Each debate typically last 1½ hours. Of course, if you have the time, feel free to volunteer to judge during more than one session. We also ask volunteers to attend a half hour training session before judging. As a judge, you will listen to the debaters, provide feedback to them when the debate round is over, offer encouragement, and then choose a winner. |

| About us | LAMDL was founded in 2007 with four Los Angeles public schools. Today LAMDL is the policy debate portal to 30 high schools, serving more than 650 students per year with a goal to serve over 1,000 students from 50 schools by 2023. LAMDL utilizes policy debate; a two-on-two debate event that focuses on a policy question for the duration of the academic year. This format tests a student’s research, analytical, and delivery skills. We are committed to restore access to competitive policy debate throughout LA’s most underserved public schools. |
