Needs |
Head Coachhe sad truth is, some schools are without a team simply because no one has stepped up to be their Head Coach. If you're a parent wondering why your school does not have a Science Olympiad team, this could be the reason.Event SupervisorsThe elementary events are determined by Macomb Science Olympiad. Several were developed right here. The sixteen elementary events usually have an experienced Event Supervisor in place ready to go. Some are looking for co-supervisors.Event CoachMany teams struggle to find enough event coaches. Don't think you have to be an expert in a subject to be a good event coach. Usually coaches say they had a great time learning right along with the kids.Tournament VolunteerOur regional tournaments require hundreds of volunteers to make them happen. You could be one of them.Planning CommitteesPlanning and preparation goes on (almost) year round. There is a separate planning committee for the elementary and secondary tournaments.High School Student VolunteersSome High School students become event coaches for their old elementary teams. In November and December groups of students assemble 'quick start kits. Teams use these kits to hone their skills when preparing to compete. |

About us | Each year, MSO hosts two major tournaments serving students from Macomb and St. Clair counties: one for elementary students, and another for middle and high school students. Approximately 2000 students, accompanied by family and school faculty attend these tournaments; in total, about 4000 people. MSO provides training and workshops for coaches and students, both directly, and in partnership with other local organizations. |
