New Horizons Academy

To provide a personalized instructional setting that enables each student to achieve academic success in a safe, nurturing environment and to prepare each student to become a fully participating member of society.

New Horizons Academy was founded in 1974 by Dr. Theresa Smith who was a pioneer, leader and advocate in education for children with learning differences. Dr. Smith overcame her own learning challenges to ultimately earn her doctorate when she was in her 50’s. She worked at New Horizons Center or Learning well into her 80’s until she passed away in January of 2008. New Horizons Academy began as an after-school program and then became a full-time day school in 1974. We have been at our current location for over 20 years.
