Medical EscortsSpringwell’s volunteer Medical Escorts provide seniors with an escort to medical appointments. Medical Escorts wait during the appointment (up to 1.5 hours) and provide accompaniment home, providing transport and companionship. Medical Escorts can provide a ride and they can give minimal assistance getting into and out of a car and into the medical facility.Money ManagerThere are two volunteer levels for this program. Volunteers with the Bill Payer Service help with a variety of tasks including writing checks (for the person being helped to sign), balancing a checkbook, and/or developing a budget. Volunteers with the Representative Payee Service have the legal authority to sign checks on the individual’s behalf, and make sure that their basic needs are met first before income is spent on other things.Nutrition VolunteerSeniors need opportunities to socialize and maintain connections. Senior luncheons at community dining sites are a great way to stay active while enjoying a nutritious and delicious meal. At each dining site, a dedicated staff and team of friendly volunteers checks-in guests, serves food, and ensures a welcoming environment.Shopping AssistantsSpringwell Shopping Assistants are volunteers who can either provide an escort to the supermarket for help shopping, or who can do the shopping themselves. Shopping Assistants can help with writing a shopping list, going to the store for or with you, putting away groceries, or running other, brief shopping errands.
