Museum InternshipsThe Discovery offers customized, staff-level internships to qualified college students and recent graduates. Internships at The Discovery are unpaid, but the experience is well worth your time. You are placed with enthusiastic mentors, who will help you develop future job skills and discover the inner workings of a world-class, hands-on science museum.Spark!Lab Smithsonian VolunteerVolunteers will create meaningful experiences with children and families by exploring the process of invention. They may even create something completely new with the tools and materials provided in this hands-on open classroom.The Shop VolunteerVolunteers will help unleash the creative potential of visitors through the innovative tools and materials that are provided in The Shop.Corporate/Group VolunteerOrganizations and groups are an essential part of The Discovery’s volunteer team. Group volunteer projects are a great way to make a big impact in a short amount of time at here at the museum. We offer both ongoing and one-time projects for highly engaged groups and their interests.Art Alcove VolunteerShare your artistic talent with the children and families who visit The Discovery. The Art Alcove volunteer is expected to be able to create a welcoming environment that offers visitors an inspiring and safe experience.Teen Assistant ProgramThe Discovery is seeking friendly and enthusiastic teen volunteers to serve as assistants for Camp Discovery, the museum’s summer camp program for kids entering kindergarten through 7th grade. Teen Assistants gain experience working with students in a fun, hands-on, science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) learning environment. |

By becoming Northern Nevada’s hub for fun, hands-on science exploration for all ages, The Discovery augments our community’s educational offerings and plays a critical role in the cultural and economic growth of our community. |
