| Needs |
Volunteer with programsVolunteers may be responsible for a variety of tasks including: assisting clients with activities on campus or in the community; assisting in the area of gallery reception and programming, special event or project support, program site supports; tutoring individual clients in academic areas such as reading and /or personal areas of interest; supporting individuals who might need extra attention with what they are working on; providing assistance in communication and social skills for individuals who are non-verbal, or whose primary language is other than English; and understanding and supporting the individual learning programs that are in place for the people we serve.Volunteer with eventsVolunteers may take part in a variety of tasks such as setting up special events and greeting guests at events (e.g., gallery reception, golf tournament, tile workshop).,Volunteer at Tierra' Thrift Shop (Tierra's Treasures) in BurbankCollect, sort, and prepare items for sale, as well as supporting customers and maintaining a welcoming environment. |

Over the years, it has become clear that Tierra is not a place, rather it is a dynamic organization that empowers people with developmental disabilities to achieve excellence through Workforce Development, College to Career, and Careers in the Arts. Each and every day, they are changing the way people think about individuals with disabilities. They are paid employees, professional volunteers, artists and students, who are fully recognized as an integral part of the communities where they live, work and study. |
